Third day of FIS Roller Ski World Championships in Val di Fiemme
Yesterday Team Sprint, Italy is optimistic but… too early
Russia shows its power, three golds, one for Sweden
Italy penalized for early change

Predictions? Overthrown, at least Italian bookmakers’. Yesterday in Ziano di Fiemme (Trentino, IT), third day of FIS Roller Ski World Championships with Team Sprint: gold for Russia among junior men and women and senior women, and Sweden leading in senior men.
Actually, the Italian junior women team finishes as first, yet jury gives them an 18’’ penalty due to a wrong change. Sad faces but nothing to do, so silver for Italy and Russians celebrating a precious gold. Among men, Russia is fast, Italy tries to follow for silver, and yet again, another penalty makes them slip behind Ukraine.
Among senior women, Russians Grukhvina and Nepryaeva start cautiously, followed by Italy. Last lap deciding it all. Nepryaeva shows what she can do, despite a great race by the Italians, Russia wins and Nepryaeva finally smiles after her delusion on Thursday. Ukraine is bronze again.
At sunset, it is senior men time. Adrenaline gets higher, Italy races with the world champions in charge Tanel and Becchis. Leading the race Sweden, Norway, Ukraine, Russia and Italy. Everything is up to the last lap. At the finish line, Scandinavian en plein: Sweden, Norway (luckily there was no Finland…). Third place for Ukraine, the Italian team just grab the ‘wooden’ medal.
Today the final round on Cermis with the Mass Start. No predictions, yet dreams are allowed. Cermis might give the World Cup to Tanel, but it is going to be a real fight for gold. Russians are ready and today they are showing it. Yet, Scandinavians and co. are there too.
