8 gold and 3 bronze medals. This is the rich outcome for the Roller-Ski Italian National team after the opening stage of the World Cup last weekend in Kazakhstan. The summer season opened in the best way for Italy, confirming to be ready for the upcoming World Championships and the great final act in Val di Fiemme, the World Cup ‘last dance’ from September 8th to 10th.
Michel Rainer, technical manager, is indeed satisfied with his team. Emanuele Becchis, the speed ‘king’, won a double gold in the Sprint and the Super Sprint. Other two gold medals came with Tommaso Dellagiacoma (10 km FT) and Matteo Tanel (20 km Mass Start). Tanel, already Roller-Ski World Champion, also won a bronze medal in the Sprint. Two other bronze medals with Michele Valerio (Super Sprint) and Lorenzo Masiero (10 km).
The Italian National Anthem has been playing all weekend long. The young Anna Maria Ghiddi won all four Junior competitions: Sprint, Super Sprint, 10 km FT and 16 km Mass Start CT.
The next important step is from August 10th to 13th with the World Championships taking place in Monza-Brianza (Italy). Afterwards, World Cup moves north to Madona (LAT) and ends in Val di Fiemme in September.
Anyone will enjoy the final World Cup weekend: Mass Start, Individual Sprint and Mass Start Uphill ‘Cermis Final Climb’ open to Junior and Senior. However, there is more. On Sunday September 10th takes place the promotional race Fiemme Rollerski Cup - Cermis Final Climb. Starting from Ziano di Fiemme and ending after 13 km on the glorious Alpe Cermis. The promotional race starts at 9 am, just a little before World Cup competition, exactly as with Rampa con i Campioni during the magic winter Tour de Ski.
